TANZANIA AA USAWA KAHAWA PROJECT
A Tanzania, mixed varietal washed process by The Usawa Kahawa Project. The green beans are composed of several varieties of arabica, graded AA (highest grade in Tanzania – expect consistency.)
Tasting Notes:
Apricot, Dark Chocolate, Brown Sugar, Black Tea. Medium Body. Bright.
This is a “mission based” coffee.
The Usawa Kahawa Project works with smallholders of the Hezya Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) in the Mbozi region of Tanzania. In addition to agricultural training, the producers who are part of the project are trained on the importance of gender equity within the family for coffee production and distribution of finances.
In Swahili, usawa means balance and kahawa means coffee. That certainly spoke to us.
