Closing the Café
With incredible gratitude we served the Trenton community for 5 years from our roastery and café, and with heavy hearts we closed in October 2024. During that time we were Named Food and Wine Magazine’s favorite coffee shop in NJ, and we regularly attended several area farmers markets to get the word out. We also sold our coffee at annual events we are still happy to promote (scroll down) and we even spent an entire 2022 season as the coffee vendor at the Trenton Thunder baseball stadium.

Where are we now? What’s even happening?
The door is open to a future café or public roastery (maybe 2027?) For now, Erik is busy charming the crowds and honing his master barista skills with our friends at Calm Waters Coffee while growing his music career, and his growing his family. Occasionally, you may see him slinging our beans too!

Vince and Natalie are making up for several years of minimal income and minimal travel by combining the two: taking on more work for their long time clients in the cycling and specialty food space, and frequently doing it from the road. They plan to take extended road trips around the country until their son Griffon starts full time school in 2026. OUOD’s current partners and helpers (and their breaks in travel) will make it possible to keep flavorful, thoughtfully sourced, specialty coffee coming your way.

What about our phenomenal staff? I bet you cafe regulars miss seeing them as much as we do!! Dismantling a small but solid team of a dozen people was hands down the hardest part of closing. They are ALL thriving in new jobs (some in coffee!) and rapidly climbing the latter of success, in their own ways. We stay in touch and try to see each other. Check out our social media for updates and throw back posts.

What’s happening with the OUOD beans?
Order beans anytime here on our website. Choose local pick up or delivery. Scroll down for more.
Beans typically ship Tuesdays and Fridays with roast dates 3-14 days out (includes time to off gas.)
Through partnerships with coffee farmers and importers we continue to source responsible, specialty grade green coffee beans. Then we contract with other local roasters to “profile match” the batches to our standards. Shout out especially to Jodi Dittman (Calm Waters) who regularly goes outside her comfort zone to roast our ever changing Ethiopia and premium Coffee Club beans. The results are complex and flavorful coffees (and yay for local female roasters!)

Where ELSE to get our beans!
Please stay in touch so you always for new places to find us and additions to our bean selection!
Yardley Farmers Market: March 1st we wrapped up our time with their 2025 winter market. We hope to return for the market’s REGULAR SEASON May through Thanksgiving, 9am to 12pm, in Buttonwood Park.
Greenstraw, 243 North Sycamore, Newtown, PA 18940. If you still want the experience the taste of One Up One Down espresso drink visit here 7 days we week, 8:30-5. They exclusively use our beans for their espresso drinks and cold brew. Plus, we operate our little bean business on their top floor so you may be able to say hello to us! It’s a lovely space to set up your laptop and get a vegan lunch, a smoothie, or tea.
Grapevine, 7 North State, Newtown, PA 18940. Walking distance of Greenstraw with 3-4 varieties of our beans on the shelf.
Panna Gelateria, Yardley, PA (custom roast) – for Panna we customized a more medium/dark roast of our Colombia Mina Rica. This roast has plenty of body, with a little less fruity layers and complexity than our typical style. This is just fine to complement their rich and decadent baked goods and makes an ideal affogato with their creamy gelato. They sell this custom roast in all forms. We love it here!
Organnons, Wrightstown, PA; Cherry Grove Farm Lawrenceville, NJ
