This coffee embodies everything we love Kenya coffees. The beans are large and expressive in the roaster. The roasted coffee has a dry aroma of sweet and savory tomato which comes through in the cup balanced with notes of chocolate and lime citrus.
The Machure Coffee Estate is located in Thika, a major commerce hub in Kenya’s Kiambu County. The family-owned farm sits at 1500 masl on the central highlands characterized by hills, plateaus, and elevations that reach 1800 masl. In addition to coffee production, the Hinga family also cultivates crops such as maize alongside sheep and goat-rearing.
Coffee thrives in Thika’s rich red volcanic soil, and the Machure Estate favors the SL34, SL28, K7, and Ruiru 11 varieties, balancing exceptional cup quality with high-yielding, disease-resistant plants.
